After reviewing your Health History, one of our doctors will meet with you to discuss any health issues and determine how they can best be treated through Chiropractic care. You will receive a thorough orthopedic, neurologic, physical and chiropractic examination. Checking the spinal range of motion is a regular part of the physical exam. Subluxations as well as many other ailments can be determined by careful analysis of X-rays taken (if necessary), palpation of the soft tissue of the spine, range of motion studies, and tests will be performed with non-invasive techniques.

A chiropractic examination typically includes full-length X-rays of the spine. These standing X-rays show the spine in its natural weight-bearing state. This will allow Dr. Minico, Dr. Filter, or Dr. Jacobs to determine if you haveany number of ailments such as: arthritis, disc degeneration pathologies, or other conditions that could be contradictory to chiropractic treatment.

After the Doctor has studied and reviewed the X-rays, he will meet again with you on your next appointment to explain the results of the exam and the findings of your X-Rays and discuss the recommended course of Chiropractic care.

The adjustment, or correction, of a subluxation is the means for care provided by a chiropractic doctor. Padded tables of several types are used for adjusting, including mechanized versions which accommodates a wide variety of postures.

The first adjustment begins to restore the vertebra to its natural position. The soft tissues, muscles, and ligaments are stretched when the vertebra is in an unnatural position, so these tissues must have time to rehabilitate and settle back into their natural positions after treatment begins. Normally, proper muscle tone, ligament position, and the shape of the vertebrae will keep the spinal column within proper alignment preserving normal nerve function.
